The Resorters led 38-37 going into the final period where they tallied only 11 points. Elkhart dropped to 5-8 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (7-12 overall). The Warriors finished 5-9 in the CLC and improved to 6-13 overall.

“It came down to free throws and rebounds, and Ozaukee did a better job of that,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

“Defensively, we looked slow, especially in the second half. They just made cuts and moves to the basket and we could not stop them.”

The Warriors were 15-for-21 (71 percent) at the foul line, compared to only 6-for-14 (43 percent) for Elkhart.

“I give Ozaukee credit. They came in here and took advantage of our weaknesses. They played hard and inspired basketball,” Kulow said.

Ozaukee outscored Elkhart 42- 25 in the second half after the Resorters had taken a 24-20 halftime lead.

Junior guard Jessika Dieringer sparked the Warriors’ offense with 22 points, keyed by a 12-for-13 shooting performance at the free-throw line.

Junior guard-forward Mariah Ausloos led Elkhart’s balanced scoring with 13. Emily Holzmann had a team-high six rebounds.

Ashley Pfeifer and Sonia Schubert paced the Resorters in steals with four apiece. Emma Feldmann led in blocked shots with two. Holzmann, Pfeifer, Ausloos and Feldmann had a team-best two assists each.
