HG sets developmental screening dates

Developmental Screening dates for all Howards Grove School District children who will be three or four years old by Sept. 1, 2014, have been scheduled for March 6 and 7 at Northview Elementary School.

Children who wish to attend Junior Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year must be four years old before Sept. 1, 2014, for school admittance. Letters explaining the screening process have been mailed to families based on the school census information. If any parents of a three- or four-year-old child have not received their information letter, they are asked to call the Northview Elementary School office at 565-4457. Parents are reminded to bring the parent questionnaire enclosed in the letter with them on screening day.

Motor skills, concepts, literacy skills, language development, vision, hearing, and general social development will be assessed by the professional educational staff.

A physical examination by a family physician and a thorough professional eye examination are strongly recommended prior to kindergarten entry. Four-year-old entrants to Junior Kindergarten are required by Wisconsin Law to receive the following immunizations: 4 DTP/DTaP/DT, 3 polio, 3 Hepatitis B, 1 MMR and 1 Varicella.

Parents are urged not to delay in scheduling the required immunizations since the series must be completed or in process by September 2014.

Your child may receive these vaccines at their physician’s office or at the Sheboygan Division of Public Health, if they are VFC eligible. If parents choose to have their child immunized at the Division of Public Health they should call 459-3030 or 1-800- 596-1919 ext. 3030 soon, to schedule an appointment, as appointment slots fill very quickly in the spring and summer seasons.
