PHS frosh girls finish season strong

The Plymouth freshman girls basketball team finished its season strong with a 58-31 rout over host Kiel Thursday night.

“We came ready to play. Always a good feeling looking at the book after the game and seeing that everyone scored,” said PHS coach Britta Dellger.

Gwen Nytes led PHS in scoring with 14 points and Brooke Frederickson added 10. Jessica Schermacher had a team-high five rebounds.

“We played a great game and finished the season out strong. We had a very successful season and I saw big improvements in each player.”

The Panthers finished 14-5 overall and 7-2 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference.

In other recent games, PHS cruised past Hilbert, 47-13, and edged Sheboygan Lutheran, 23-20. The Panthers outscored Hilbert 34-2 in the second and third quarters combined. Gwen Nytes keyed the PHS offense with 15 points and Jordyn Thomas had a team-high four rebounds.

Thomas tallied eight points to lead the Panthers against Lutheran. Emma Grapentine paced PHS in rebounds with three.

Soccer Club sign-up starts

The Plymouth Soccer Club is currently accepting registrations for the 2014 spring season for the under-6, U-8 and U-10 age groups.

The U-8 and U-10 groups will begin their seasons at the end of April and U-6 starts at the beginning of May.

Registration ends quickly. Space is limited and openings will be filled based on registration dates and times. Registration will be closed once the rosters are full.

Youth baseball coach meeting set

The Lakeshore Baseball League for grades 4-8 will hold its annual coaches’ spring meeting March 17 at 7 p.m. at Ranger Park in Plymouth.
