Katsma sparks Crossroads to semifinal win

PLYMOUTH – Joel Katsma’s 23 points powered Crossroads Community Church to a 77-31 drubbing of Ries Gynecology in the Upper Level semifinals of the Plymouth Men’s Basketball League playoffs Wednesday night.

Crossroads advances to the championship game against Van Horn Automotive Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Ries was led in scoring by Nate Zimmerman and Mike Ries with eight each.

In the other Upper semifinal contest Wednesday night, Van Horn defeated Masters Gallery, 50-37. Rory Nelson keyed Van Horn’s attack with 14 points. Sam Hau netted a team-high 15 for Masters.

The Lower Level semifinals were also played Wednesday night. TM Carpentry/All-Around Services routed City Club, 76-58, and Nigh Roofing edged De O’Malley’s, 35-30.

Ryan Pennell led TM Carpentry’s offense with 18 points. Brandon Langer erupted for 26 to pace City Club.

Nic Giebler popped in 14 points to lead Nigh. Al Morgan was the high scorer for De O’Malley’s with 10.

The Lower Level title game will tip off at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both championship games will be held in the Jim Urness Gym at the Riverview Middle School.
