Lindstrom nets 31 in college game

Alexis Lindstrom, a 2012 Howards Grove High School graduate, poured in a career-high 31 points to spark the Northern Illinois women’s basketball team to an 81-76 overtime win over Eastern Michigan in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament March 10 in Cleveland.

Lindstrom hit a tourney-record nine three-point goals and missed only twice from three-point range. She finished the tourney with 11 treys which is one behind the record.

She scored eight points off the bench, including two three-balls, in the Huskies’ 61-47 loss to Ball State in the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Wednesday. The game was the season finale for NIU which finished 11-19.

Lindstrom led the Huskies in three-point shooting this past season. Lindstrom, who played in all 30 of the Huskies’ games, including four starts, hit a team-high 48 three-point goals. The 5-foot-7 sophomore guard, also paced the team in three-point accuracy with a strong 39.3 percent (48-for- 122).

She averaged 5.7 points per game and contributed 11 steals, 22 assists and 43 rebounds.
