ANTONIO BETT ANTONIO BETT Senior Austin Edge of Howards Grove and senior Antonio Bett, Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah, were named to the All-Central Lakeshore Conference boys basketball first team for the 2013-14 season.

Brinkman, a 6-2 junior guard for the Howards Grove Tigers, earned second-team honors for the second straight season.

Bett ranked second in the league in scoring with an 18.9 points-per-game average and rebounding at 10.1 per contest. He averaged 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals, sank 25 threepoint goals which ranked seventh, and shot 37.2 percent from the field and an excellent 83.6 at the foul line.

“Antonio had an incredible year,” said Elkhart Resorter head coach Jim Brown.

“What I was most impressed with was his ability to lead us as the season went on. I don’t mean with his play but with his attitude.

AUSTIN EDGE AUSTIN EDGE “He is an incredibly hard working kid. He was usually the first one in the gym and I can attest he was always the last one out. His hard work has paid off for him,” Brown pointed out.

Edge finished fourth in the CLC in assists with a 4.2 average and was eighth in scoring at 13.3 points per game. He shot well from the field at 52.3 percent and was a 74.0-percent free-throw shooter.

He sank 16 three-point shots and had a 3.6 rebounding average.

“Austin did a nice job of running the show for us this year and his numbers were there to back it up. His leadership on and off the court really came out as the season went on,” said Tiger head coach Eric Worth.

“We will really miss him next year and what he was able to bring to the table.”

ETHAN BRINKMAN ETHAN BRINKMAN Brinkman ranked fifth in the league in scoring with a 15.8 average and shared third in three-pointers at 32. He shot an excellent 42.7 percent from three-point range.

“Everyone knew Ethan was a great scorer coming into this year but he improved so much in the leadership category and on the defensive end of the floor. Ethan is only a junior and we’re very excited about having him back next year.

“Both Austin and Ethan are tremendous kids and well deserving of any types of awards,” added Worth.
