Checks for the ‘Wall that Heals’

Allen Nohl (center) of American Legion Post 387 in Franklin accepts checks totalling $1,400 from Gene Blindauer (left), secretary of the Sheboygan County Snowmobile Association and Mike Holden, president of the association. The donation will cover part of the expense to bring the Vietnam ‘Wall that Heals’ to Sheboygan County, where it will arrive Tuesday, Aug. 19, and be on display to the public from Thursday, Aug. 21, through Sunday, Aug. 24. Of the 58,286 names of the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C., as of Memorial Day 2013, 26 were from Sheboygan County. The 14 snowmobile clubs that donated $100 apiece are the Adell Yetis, Batavia Hill and Gully Riders, Beechwood Night Flyers, Belgium Snow Runners, Cascade Apollo Riders, Five Corners Snowmobile Club, Howards Grove Lakeshore Driftbusters, Kiel Snowmobile Club, Louis Corners Snow Birds, New Fane Kettle Riders, Northern Kettle Moraine Crooked Trails, Plymouth Snow Rangers, Random Lake United Snow Byrds and Sheboygan Falls Snowmobile Association. Donations are still being accepted for the ‘Wall that Heals’ display in Sheboygan County. Checks made out to “Sheboygan County Veterans Memorial” can be mailed to the Sheboygan County Veterans Service Office, 615 N. Eighth St., Sheboygan 53081.
