Tigers stay unbeaten with lopsided win

The Tigers hiked their Central Lakeshore Conference record to 3-0 (3-0 overall). The loss was the Rockets’ first in CLC play as they slipped to 4-1 (4-2 overall).

Hayley Reinke and Emily Schmid tallied Howards’ other two goals. Schmid, Nicole Mugan and Katie Guse contributed one assist each.

HGHS, who scored six unanswered goals after trailing 1-0 early, led 11-7 in shots on goal. Olivia Stauss and Samantha Yancy played goalkeeper for the Tigers, with Stauss making six saves and Yancy, one. Rocket goalie Audrey Schlenvogt had six saves.

“We let our guard down early in the first half, allowing Cedar Grove a goal, but were determined to get our first home win of the season,” said Tiger head coach Todd Fischer.

“The girls were persistent and kept their eyes on the goal.”

The Rockets led 1-0 on a goal by AJ Caldwell 9:05 into the match.
