Robert Lee “Bob” Konik of Fond du Lac went into his risen Lord’s arms Monday, April 21, 2014, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, surrounded by his wife and family.

Bob was born in Green Grove, Clark County, to the late Steven and Adeline (Awe) Konik, on Jan. 24, 1937. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church of Cleveland, Wis. He graduated from Central High School in 1955. He married the love of his life and caregiver for the past 12 years, Jane Nordholz, on Sept. 7, 1957, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Howards Grove.

Bob received his bachelor’s degree in 1967 and master’s degree in 1969 in planning and landscaping architecture from the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture and Life Science. He worked as a Dane County planner, coming to Fond du Lac in 1969 to accept a position of county planning director. Later, he owned and operated his own landscaping business, working at Tecumseh Products during the winter. Bob was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Howards Grove, serving as a past secretary, usher and chairman of the St. Paul’s Cemetery Board of Directors. He was a Full Member of the American Society of Landscape Architects at the state and national level, serving as vice president and president of the state association. He was a registered landscape architect with the state of Wisconsin. Bob and Jane and their daughter loved to travel extensively in the United States and Canada. He enjoyed watching his daughter and granddaughters compete in the county fair with their many 4-H projects and his grandson wrestle and play football.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jane; daughter, Vicki Brown of Fond du Lac; grandson, Thomas Thorpe (friend, Elaine) of Fond du Lac; granddaughters, Stephany (Robert) Davis of Oshkosh and Nicole Brown of Fond du Lac; one great- granddaughter, Emma Davis of Oshkosh; one brother, Jerome (Judy) Konik of Sheboygan Falls; sisters-in-law, Mary Jean Konik of Newton, Betty Konik of Phoenix, Ariz., and Bonnie Konik of the town of Mosel; brother- and sister-in-law, Louis and Mildred Wiegand; special friends, Tom and Kathy Keyes and Paul Thorpe; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis, Steve and John; sisters, Marlene Haupt and Barbara Konik and brotherin law, Arlie Haupt and nephew, Michael Haupt.

Service was held Friday morning, April 25, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church (441 Millersville Ave., Howards Grove) with the Rev. David Haugly, pastor of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, officiating. Cremation followed the service and burial will be at a later date at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery.
