EL-G second at Oriole-Ledger Invite

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters finished second in the Division 3 field at Wednesday’s Oriole-Ledger Invitational boys golf tournament at the Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Fond du Lac.

Elkhart shot an 18-hole score of 366. The Resorters were led by senior Antonio Bett who was in a three-way tie for fifth with an 87. Elkhart’s other low players were Jake Shovan with a 92, Brennan Cain, 93 and Stephan Clemens, 94.

Madison Abundant Life won the D-3 title with 351. Sheboygan Lutheran earned third at 368. Nate Hasenstein of Lutheran and Sam Jeffers of Stockbridge were the co-medalist with 84s on the par-72 course.

“I was really happy and pleasantly surprised on how we performed as a team,” said Resorter head coach Bart Larson.

“Stephan and Brennan shot season-lows for 18 holes which is nice to see. It is always nice to see your young guys get better and gain valuable experience.”

In Central Lakeshore Conference dual play Thursday afternoon at the Quit Qui Oc Golf Club in Elkhart, Lutheran defeated Elkhart. 176-191. Hastenstein was the medalist with a 42. Cain paced the Resorters (2-1 in the CLC and overall) with a 45, followed by Elliot Van Oss with a 48.
