George E. Thiel, age 81, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away suddenly at his home Monday evening, May 5, 2014.

He was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Sheboygan, Wis., a son of the late Elmer and Emma (Noha) Thiel. George graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan in 1951.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-56.

On Aug. 23, 1958, he married Barbara Range at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. The couple resided in Sheboygan after their marriage and for the past 33 years in the town of Lyndon.

George was employed at PLENCO (Plastic Engineering) in Sheboygan for 38 years retiring in 1997.

The couple have spent the last 10 years wintering in Bushnell, Fla., and 15 years at Fawn Lake Campgrounds in Shawano.

He enjoyed softball, traveling (especially foreign), bingo and spending loving time with his grandchildren and will be missed by his canine companion, Mocha.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara of Plymouth; two children, Tim (Denise) Thiel of Howards Grove and Tamara Dennis of Janesville; three grandchildren: Olivia and Hannah Dennis and Carson Thiel; one sister, Betty Kotnick of Sheboygan; one brother, Jerry Thiel of Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Gesser of Waukesha and Doris Wigand of Sheboygan Falls; and also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Lorraine Storheim and two brothers-in-law, John Gesser and Norlief Storheim.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Tom Fleischmann, chaplain for the Sheboygan County Health Care Facilities, will officiate. Entombment will be at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the town of Sheboygan on Friday morning, May 9, at 10 a.m.

Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in George’s name.

The Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612 will conduct military rites at the Suchon Funeral Home following the services.
