Alice L. Leynse, age 97, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.

She was born Dec. 3, 1916 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Edgar and Anna (Spadel) Herges. After high school, Alice worked at Keitel’s Candy Shop and as an operator at Bell Telephone Co. in Sheboygan.

On March 17, 1941, she married Harry Leynse. They purchased a farm in the town of Plymouth. They made their home there until moving to Plymouth in 1990.

Alice enjoyed gardening and for many years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and camping with family throughout much of the United States.

Alice was a member of the Hingham Reformed Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Triplett of Plymouth; her daughter-in-law, Prudence (Marty) Hall of Canon City, Colo.; two granddaughters, Jodi Leynse of Provo, Utah, and Michelle Hall of Canon City, Colo.; and one sister-in-law, Corabella Rosenthal of Sheboygan Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Leynse; one son, Jerome Leynse; a sister, Marion Trautman; and a son-in-law, Cutis Triplett.

According to Alice’s wishes, her body has been donated to the Medical College of Wisconsin for research and no funeral services will be held. Final interment will take place in the Hingham Cemetery.
