Bernice M. Witkowski, age 90, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away Friday afternoon, May 9, 2014, at St. Nicholas Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 13, 1923 in Eden, Wis., a daughter of the late John and Ida (Muench) Kranig. She attended school in Dotyville, Wis.

On July 22, 1944, she married Steven Witkowski in Dotyville. The couple resided in rural Plymouth since their marriage operating their farm. After retirement, Steve and Bernice enjoyed wintering in Donna, Texas, making lifelong friends along the way. Steve preceded her in death March 21, 2007.

She was a former member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church and belonged to Christian Women’s Society and a current member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include six children: Steve (Nancy) Witkowski of Grafton, Richard Witkowski (Jim) of Saukville, James Witkowski of Plymouth, Robert (Mary) Witkowski of Plymouth, Carol (Ken) Eirich of Plymouth and Joanne Witkowski (special friend, Todd Kringle) of Plymouth; one son-in-law, Pat (Julie) Lensmire of Cascade; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Kranig (special friend, Liz); brothersand sisters-in-law: Joe (Dorothy) Witkowski, Donna (Harold) Smith, Rita Witkowski, Betty Witkowski, Joyce Witkowski (special friend, Jean), Mary Heiling and Mary Witkowski; and also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Susan Lensmire; mother- and father-in-law, John and Helen Witkowski; one brother, William (Irene) Kranig; three sisters: Loretta (Scivio) Onesti, Rosella (Lester) Snyder and Betty (Bill) Boshley; six brothers-in-law: Carl (Norma) Witkowski, Ted (Charlotte) Witkowski, Leo (Eileen) Witkowski, Clarence Witkowski, Larry Witkowski and Lyle Heiling.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Father Dan Volkert, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery in Armstrong.

Friends may call at the CHURCH on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bernice’s name.
