Vernon C. Fuhrmann, age 75, of Plymouth, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Cedar Bay in Elkhart Lake.

He was born Aug. 19, 1938, in St. Joe to the late Norman and Cyrella (Schaefer) Fuhrmann.

He married Mary Grace Petrie on June 29, 1974.

Vernon heard the call of his country and joined the United States Army.

He was a former member of St. Fridolin Catholic Church in Glenbeulah, and a current member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.

In his free time, he enjoyed going to auctions and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacy (Marshal) Morse of California, and two grandchildren, Ellia and Caleb Morse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Mary Grace; and a brother, Gordon Fuhrmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake with Father Daniel Volkert officiating.

Friends may call Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Schneider Funeral Home & Life Tributes, Plymouth, is serving the family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Cedar Bay in Elkhart Lake and the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their extraordinary care shown to Vernon.
