Resorters split with Oostburg, earn share of CLC crown

OOSTBURG – After a tough 4-3 loss in the opener, the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters bounced back with an 8-5 win over Oostburg in the nightcap of Tuesday’s doubleheader to earn a share of the Central Lakeshore Conference softball championship with the Lady Dutch.

Elkhart (10-5 overall), which won two of the three meetings with the Lady Dutch this season, and Oostburg finished CLC play with 10-5 records.

“Two great softball games. We came out on top in the second game to be co-conference champs with Oostburg,” said Resorter head coach Brian Feldmann.

“I”m very proud of these girls. I will take the co-championship. These girls deserve it.”

In game two, the Resorters exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit and go ahead 8-2. The key hit was a two-run triple by freshman Sonia Schubert.

Schubert, Miranda Sippel and Emma Feldmann led the Resorters’ attack with two hits each. Schubert also had a team-high two RBIs and two runs scored.

Six Oostburg errors led to five unearned runs by Elkhart.

Aryanna Klemme earned a complete-game win. She allowed two earned runs on 11 hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

Hollie DenBoer and Kim Wilterdink paced Oostburg in hits with two each.

GAME ONE

In the nightcap, Wilterdink’s RBI single in the fourth gave the Lady Dutch a 4-3 lead and the host team held on for the win.

Grossenbach was the winning pitcher with relief help from Marissa TenHaken and Abbie Huibregtse who combined for three scoreless innings (two by Huibregtse).

Aryanna Klemme was the toughluck losing hurler. Klemme allowed only two earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and just one walk.

Feldmann had a team-high two hits for EL-G. Sarah Duenk and Wilterdink paced the Lady Dutch with two hits each.
