Elkhart Lake remembers

The village of Elkhart Lake held its Memorial Day commemoration Saturday at the Veterans Memorial in Memorial Park. The program included raising of the flags by cadets from the Sheboygan County squadron of the Civil Air Patrol (above and below), performances by the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School choir and band (right, second and third from bottom), a reading of “I am a Veteran” by ELGHS student Aryanna Klemme (top), an address from Col. Strep R. “Dick” Kuehl (above right), and a closing rifle volley from members of the American Legion Post 261 (bottom right). Kuehl, a 1978 graduate of ELGHS who has served in the Army since then, noted the many natives of Elkhart Lake and Glenbeulah who have served, and continue to serve in the Armed Forces. “I dare you to tell me another community where patriotism runs so deep,” he told the crowd.
