Youth summer drama classes being planned


Theater For Young Audiences honored its graduating seniors for their involvement and leadership at the annual End of the Year Awards Party on Friday, April 27 at TYA’s Theater Factory. Nine high school graduates received two hundred and fifty dollar scholarships in memory of Betty P. Sabolwho. Summer Drama Classes June 16-20 at TYA’s Theater Factory, 1305 St.Clair Avenue, Sheboygan.

Children in grades three through five will explore the world of acting and adventure while rehearsing and performing in plays featuring princesses and pirates in “Act It Out!” from 8:30am- 11:30am. Little ones in grades K through 2, will bring to life familiar folk and fairy tales using creative movement and creative dramatics in “Playmakers” from 12noon-1pm. Deb Sabol-Williams, TYA’s artistic director is the instructor. “Playmakers” students will perform for family and friends at 12:45pm on Friday, June 20. “Act It Out!” students will perform for invited guests at TYA’s Spotlight On Kids! Showcase at 6:30pm on Friday June 20.

Children in grades four through eight will sing and dance to Broadway show tunes ranging from “Annie” to “Oliver” in “Stars OnStage” from 1:30-4:30pm. Veronica Hilke Lampe, a TYA alumni and the choreographer for Lakeshore Productions’ upcoming production of “South Pacific” and musician Dan Ognavic, are the instructors. Students will perform for invited guests in TYA’s Spotlight On Kids! Showcase at 8pm on Friday, June 20.
