Resorters show strong pitching in debut loss to Cougars

CAMPBELLSPORT – The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters lost their baseball season opener to Campbellsport, 3-0, here Friday evening but showed bright spots.

Elkhart’s pitchers – Brennan Cain, Stuart Zelle and Bailey Klug combined on a two-hitter in the nonconference game. Zelle, the starting and losing hurler, allowed one run (unearned) on no hits with one walk and no strikeouts in two innings.

Cain and Klug threw two innings each. Cain gave up no runs on zero hits with no walks and one strikeout. Klug went two frames and surrendered two runs (one earned) on two hits with two walks and no whiffs.

“They all threw well. Our defense played pretty well – only a couple mistakes,” said Resorter head coach Davin Hill.

“I was very pleased with the season opener.”

Cougar starting hurler Jordan Dreikosen fanned 10 batters and allowed no hits in five innings en route to the win.

The Resorters also had only two hits – one each from Stephan Clemens and Jordan Puchalla.
