Howards Grove’s Fritz blanks Oostburg as Tigers stay unbeaten

OOSTBURG – Junior Zach Fritz twirled a four-hit shutout, 7-0, for the Howards Grove Tigers over Oostburg in Central Lakeshore Conference baseball action here Tuesday evening.

The Tigers raised their CLC record to 5-0 (6-0 overall). Fritz walked only one and struck out five.

“Zach was awesome in this one. His location and off-speed pitches were all working and kept Oostburg off balance,” said Tiger head coach Mark Weber.

HGHS scored the only run it needed when Bryce Hoffmann drove in Andrew Reinemann with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning to make it 1-0. Reinemann got aboard on a one-out walk and advanced to third base on Austin Edge’s single.

Edge and Dakota Rabe led the Tigers in hits with two each. Terry Fritsch had a team-high two RBIs. Rabe led in runs with a pair.

The losing pitcher was Chris Brill.
