The Flames managed only two hits and committed two errors which led to a pair of unearned runs. Plymouth slipped to 10-5 while Forest improved to 7-2.

The AC’s advance to the semifi- nals against the Brownsville 49ers who defeated the Mount Calvary AC’s, 3-0, in Friday night’s other first-round game.

The semifinals were originally scheduled for Wednesday night but will be rescheduled for a date to be determined. The date for the championship game will be announced later.

The other two first-round games, scheduled for last Wednesday night, were postponed due to rain. They are rescheduled for Wednesday, with Howards Grove facing Two Rivers at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Branch-Saukville contest at approximately 8:30.

“We had a weak-hitting performance. We didn’t play well. It certainly wasn’t our ‘A’ game,” said Flame player-manager Rick Meyer. “We weren’t aggressive at the plate.”

Kevin Seibel pitched a two-hitter en route to the win. Seibel, whose slow curveball stymied the Flames’ bats, allowed one earned run and four walks, hit a batter and struck out two. Plymouth hit 10 groundouts.

The key inning was the bottom of the second when Forest tallied four runs to go up 4-0. The AC’s had four hits and two walks to go with one Plymouth error in the frame. Seibel cracked an RBI single and Chris Weiland ripped an RBI double.

The Flames scored in the third. Eric Leinen led off with a single, took second base on a wild pitch and came home on Jake Klemme’s base hit which made it 4-1.

Forest added three runs in the fourth to go up 7-1. The AC’s combined three hits and a Plymouth error to score the runs. Luke Loehr hit an RBI single, and Ryan Lloyd and Lucas Muche delivered sacrifice flies.

Ryan Wachter was the losing pitcher. Wachter went the distance and gave up five earned runs on nine hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Seibel paced Forest in hits with two.
