EVELYN A. HOFSCHIELD

Evelyn A. Hofschield (nee Schaap), age 94, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Monday morning June 16, 2014, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice where she had been a patient for the past five days.

She was born Sept. 19, 1919, in the town of Greenbush, Wis., the daughter of the late Christian and Rena Van Sluys Schaap. She attended Rathburn Grade School in the town of Plymouth.

Evelyn worked at Plymouth Canning Factory, Kraft Foods and then at Borden’s Co. in Plymouth.

On Oct. 11, 1952, Evelyn married Gerald E. Hofschield in Plymouth.

The couple have resided in the city of Plymouth after their marriage, moving to the town of Plymouth in 1984.

She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Plymouth and the Dorcas Chapter in the church.

Evelyn and Gerald celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in October 2007. Gerald preceded her in death Oct. 6, 2008.

Evelyn enjoyed working on the yard and garden and loved so many flowers and birds. In her older years, she loved talking on the phone with family and friends. She enjoyed coming to church with her special friends: Nancy Schmidt, Ayleene Grabow and Janice Hueppchen and loved all of her wonderful church family. She loved her special friends in her life, Wally and Grace Hecker; they were God’s Heavenly Angels for her.

Survivors include one sister, Lena Lauer of Sheboygan Falls and one sister-in-law, Arlen Schaap of Sheboygan Falls. Evelyn is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Plymouth. The Rev. William Rishel, pastor of First Congregational Church of Christ in Plymouth, will officiate. Burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the CHURCH from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Evelyn’s name for Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice or First Congregational United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
