Resorters’ attack on fire in CLC rout, earn twinbill split with RL

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters banged out a seasonhigh 19 hits to fuel a 17-7 drubbing of Random Lake which earned a split in Monday’s baseball doubleheader at Elkhart’s Vollrath Park.

The Resorters had six batters with two more hits in the Central Lakeshore Conference game. Leading the assault with three each were Tyler Schultz, Elliot Van Oss, Gunnr Johnson and Owen Kalbacken. Jordan Bahr and Dan Schneider added two apiece.

Jed Hersey paced Elkhart in RBIs with four, followed by Schneider with three. Bahr, Max Kossman and Kalbacken contributed two each.

Freshman Brennan Cain pitched a four-hitter to earn the win. Cain allowed two earned runs and four walks while striking out three.

The Rams won the opener, 13-6, behind an 18-hit attack. A seven-run outburst in the third sparked the visitors to a 10-3 lead.

Elkhart pounded out 14 hits, led by Stephan Clemens’ three. Schultz, Johnson, Trevor Rebedew and Schneider cracked two hits each. Johnson led in RBIs with two.

After the twinbill, Elkhart is 2-7 in the CLC (2-8 overall).

EL-CEDAR GROVE GAME

In CLC play Friday night, the visiting Resorters fell to Cedar Grove-Belgium, 11-6. The Rockets erupted for six runs in the last of the first to go up 6-0.
