The Falcons hiked their record to 9-3 while the Resorters dropped to 2-10. The contest was called after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Vanderploeg started and threw four innings – allowing three hits and one walk while striking out three. Elsing pitched the final two frames, and fanned three and surrendered zero hits.

Eric Klemme and Kyle Peterson led Falls in hits with two each. Klemme and Jaymz had a teamhigh two RBIs each. Ross Krist led in runs with three.

“We had a good pitching performance by our younger pitchers tonight. It was good to get this game in and get back to baseball,” said Falcon head coach Ryan Fladvid.

The game was almost rained out but the field was able to be made playable after an afternoon shower.

Tyler Schultz, Owen Kalbacken and Stephan Clemens had one single apiece for Elkhart.

“We threw strikes early and later the walks hurt us. Max Kossman [freshman pitcher] did well in just his second outing,” said Resorter head coach Davin Hill.

“We just gave up two many free passes. I thought the Falcons’ pitchers threw well.”

Kossman started and took the loss. He gave up four runs (one earned) on four hits with three walks and a strikeout in four innings.
