The Tigers raised their Central Lakeshore Conference-leading baseball record to 11-0 (12-2 overall). The Resorters dropped to 2-10 in CLC play (2-12 overall).

Hoffmann, who went the distance, walked only one and gave up two unearned runs.

“Bryce pitched a gem and he got support late in the game by helping his own cause with a big RBI double,” said Tiger head coach Mark Weber.

“He had a lot of pop on his fastball and threw some very tough off-speed pitches as well.”

The Tigers trailed 1-0 through four innings as they were held to only one hit by sophomore hurler Bailey Klug. Klug allowed only four baserunners in the first four innings before having control trouble in the bottom of the fifth.

The Tigers scored three runs in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead and added five in the sixth to build an 8-2 advantage. Klug walked three, hit a batter and surrendered one hit in the fifth as he allowed three runs (one earned) before being lifted for a reliever.

Andrew Reinemann cracked an RBI single in the fifth which tied the game, 1-1. HGHS went up to stay, 2-1, when Jake Fritz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded which brought home Zach Fritz.

In the sixth, the Tigers had just two hits but took advantage of four walks and two hit batters. Brad Olson laced an RBI single and Hoffmann ripped an RBI double.

Both teams collected only four hits each but Resorter pitching issued 10 walks and plunked four batters while recording two strikeouts. Neither team had any batters with multiple hits.

Elkhart’s two runs scored on passed balls, with Elliot Van Oss and Jordan Bahr coming home.

Reinemann and Jake Fritz paced HGHS in RBIs with two each. Zach Fritz led in runs with two. Alex Strege stole a team-high two bases.
