Twins win pair against Riverdogs in LOL

Thiensville-Mequon scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 3-3 tie en route to an 8-3 win over the Howards Grove Riverdogs in Land O’ Lakes Baseball League action Sunday afternoon at Howards.

The Riverdogs dropped to 3-8 in the Northern Division (4-9 overall). The Twins upped their divisional mark to 6-3 which is good for second place.

Drew Worth rapped three hits to lead the Twins’ attack. Luke Scheuerlein and Mitch Keiper added two each.

Josh Ruppel had an impressive 15 strikeouts as he earned a complete game victory.

The Riverdogs’ statistics were unavailable at press time.

The teams played June 24 at Mequon and the Twins won, 10-3. Colten Poellinger belted a three- run homer in the bottom of the fourth and was the winning pitcher. Poellinger fanned 12 batters in just six innings.

Ben Binversie sparked the Twins’ bats with three hits. Brady Callahan led the Riverdogs on offense with three hits.

Eric Dickmyer was the losing hurler. Dickmyer started and threw four innings – allowing six runs (all earned) on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
