Douglas V. Nortrom, age 76, of Plymouth, passed away early Sunday morning, July 6, 2014, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

He was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on May 24, 1938, a son of the late Roy and Helen (Newstrom) Nortrom.

Doug met Patti Meier in Milwaukee. He won her heart and on Oct. 2, 1965, they were married in Whitefish Bay, Wis. They settled in Plymouth where they would build and live their dreams together.

Doug and family built the log home that they have lived in over the last 46 years.

He loved Jazz music, woodworking, nature, and spending time with his family and friends. He will forever be remembered for his playful smile, his easy laugh and his mischievous sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patti; four children: Scot (Eileen Galvin) Nortrom of St. Paul, Minn.; Paul (Kelly) Nortrom of Tacoma, Wash.; Amy Nortrom of Bend, and Jon Nortrom of Plainfield, Ill.; three grandchildren: Hannah, Kieran and Finn; and one brother, Marlowe (Janet) Nortrom of Shorewood, Wis. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Fond du Lac, is being established in Douglas’ name.
