Richards, Hill lead JV to 8-4 win

PLYMOUTH – Matt Richards and Reece Hill banged out three hits each to power the Plymouth Panthers to an 8-4 junior varsity baseball win over visiting Kewaskum June 17.

PHS pounded out 15 hits. Alex Shutter, Cole Henning and Matthew Klass contributed two each. Richards, Andrew Morrow and Hill had a team-high two RBIs apiece.

Derek Schweiger earned a complete-game win. He allowed two earned runs on nine hits with five walks and 10 strikeouts.

On June 19, the host Panthers were routed by New Holstein, 17-5. Schweiger paced PHS in hits with two. Tyler Moegenburg had a teambest two RBIs.

Walcott, Adams shoot aces at QQO

ELKHART LAKE – Glen Walcott and Bette Adams of Plymouth shot holes-in-one recently at the Quit Qui Oc Golf Club.

Walcott aced the par-3, 163-yard ninth hole on the 18-hole course with a 5-wood on June 30. Adams carded her hole-in-one on the par-3, 125-yard eighth hole at the Glacial Nine June 21 with a 9-wood.

PHS athletes honored for academics

Numerous Plymouth High School student-athletes have been honored for their performance in the classroom as well as in competitive sports.

Swimming & Diving

For the 10th year in a row, the girls swim team achieved the Team Scholar Award from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association by maintaining a grade-point average above 3.5 during their season. This year’s team GPA was a 3.62.

The following individuals earned All-American Academic status, awarded those who have been in the sport for two or more years, lettered their senior year and have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or above: Taylor Knuth, Maggie McConnaha, Delaney Olsen, Haley Olsen and Megan Roelse.

Earning All-State Academic status, given to those who have been in the sport for two or more years, lettered their senior year, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5, were Austin Ernst, Mitch Halderson, Sophie Hau, Taylor Knuth, Jake Landry, Matthew Matz, Maggie McConnaha, Mary Claire Nichoson, Delaney Olsen, Haley Olsen, Meghan Roelse and Peter Roth.

Taylor Knuth also received an All-State Honorable Mention from the Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, earned by meeting qualifying time standards or placing near the top in state competition.


The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin named Zach Gambrell, Aron Schilsky, Jaryd Larson and Michael Bolland as Academic All-State honorees. These Panthers are among a record 280 male golfers from around the state so honored this year.

Students are nominated by GCAW member coaches if they meet the following criteria: 1) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25; 2) participation in at least 75 percent of their team’s varsity matches; and 3) are at least a sophomore in high school.
