Riverdogs’ Skelton, Callahan LOL All-Star starters

Catcher Bryce Skelton and first baseman Brady Callahan of the Howards Grove Riverdogs were selected starters for the Northern Division team for Sunday’s Land O’ Lakes Baseball League All-Star Game.

Also named for the Riverdogs as a reserve shortstop was Cole Reinemann. The Plymouth Flames will be represented by Ryan Wachter as a reserve pitcher. Wachter was named as a replacement for Plymouth hurler Matt Schroeder who is unable to play due to another commitment.

The All-Star Game will be held at Dickmann Field in Saukville at 1:30 p.m. The Northern Division will face the Eastern Division.

Skelton was leading the division in batting with an impressive .469 heading into this week’s league play. He has 15 RBIs and an outstanding .719 slugging percentage.

Callahan ranked sixth in the division in batting at .409 and has 12 RBIs.

Reinemann has scored 14 runs with a .356 on-base average. He is batting .224 with four RBIs and two stolen bases.

Wachter has been outstanding on the mound with a 0.00 ERA and only eight hits allowed in 14-1/3 innings. He has walked only four and has 11 strikeouts to go with a 1-0 record and one complete game.

The rest of the Northern Division’s starting lineup includes: pitcher – Josh Ruppel of Thiensville- Mequon; second baseman – Ryan Romens, Port Washington; third baseman – Dustin Kesner, Grafton; shortstop – Kyle Kichura, Port Washington; outfielders – Cole Granrath, Saukville, and Mike Pruefer, Grafton; and designated hitter – Justin Behm, Port Washington. Manager Joe Glynn of Cedarburg will determine the third starting outfielder, based on vote.

Dave Dickmann, Saukville manager, will be the Northern Division’s coach.
