ADRIAN J. THIEL

Adrian J. Thiel, age 82, of Plymouth, Wis. (formerly of Waldo), passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice where he had been a patient for four days.

He was born March 18, 1932, in the town of Mosel (Sheboygan County), a son of the late Arthur W. and Esther S. Augustine Thiel. He graduated from Waldo High School in 1950.

Adrian served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956, serving on the USS Albany CA123, USS Missouri BB63 and the USS Oriskany CVA34 during the Korean War.

On Jan. 2, 1960, he married Vyra Wentz at Salem Plankroad United Church of Christ. The couple have resided in Waldo following their marriage, before moving to Plymouth in 2004.

Adrian farmed and also worked at Kohler Co. for over 32 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club.

Adrian was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth.

He enjoyed sports, fishing and old-time music.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Vyra of Plymouth; three children: Ralph A. (Teresa) Thiel of Oshkosh, Wis.; Brian J. (Debra) Thiel of Borth, Wis., and Brenda L. (Dean) Hanke of Howards Grove, Wis.; six grandchildren: Vanessa, Veronica, Alyssa, Bradley, Gabriel and Jacob; one sister, Alice DeGroff of Waldo; four sisters-in-law: Lorraine Grams of Sheboygan, Dorothy (Warren) Arthur of Sheboygan Falls, Myra (John) Pfeifer of Glenbeulah and Judy (Alton) Pfeifer of Sheboygan; three brothers-in-law: Warren (Mary Ann) Wentz of Sheboygan, Kenneth Wentz of Sheboygan and Clinton (Reda) Wentz of Florida and special cousin, Donald (Jessie) Augustine of Sheboygan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Esther Thiel.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Waldo Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services. The Plymouth American Legion Ladewig-Zinkgraf Post #243 will conduct military rites following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Adrian’s name for Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, Salem United Church of Christ or the American Heart Association.
