Klemme, Bitter, Free repeat on All-CLC first team


ARYANNA KLEMME ARYANNA KLEMME Seniors Aryanna Klemme of Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah and Robyn Bitter and Val Free of Howards Grove were voted to the All-Central Lakeshore Conference softball first team for the second straight season by the league coaches.

Klemme earned honors at pitcher and Bitter and Free were named at the catcher and infield positions, respectively. Free played third base this past season.

The Elkhart Resorters, who shared the CLC title with Oostburg, have two second-team players in senior first baseman Miranda Sippel and freshman shortstop Sonia Schubert. Sippel was honorable mention last year.

The Howards Tigers are represented on the second unit by senior outfielder Sarah Scheiber.

Earning honorable mention for the Resorters are junior catcher Mariah Ausloos and sophomore infielder Emma Feldmann. Tiger junior pitcher/first baseman Lyndsay Peterson was named honorable mention at the utility spot.


ROBYN BITTER ROBYN BITTER “Aryanna is very deserving of the first team. She was a great leader with seven freshmen on the team,” said Resorter head coach Brian Feldmann.

“Her total pitches were 1,681 for the year which shows how tough she was.”

Klemme finished 10-5 in the CLC with a 5.61 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 95-2/3 innings. She also batted .347.

Bitter hit .367 with 13 RBIs, five doubles and five runs scored in league play. She had 13 assists in 15 CLC games and was errorless on defense for the entire season.

“Robyn was the glue that held our defense together this year. Robyn is an excellent defensive catcher,” said Tiger head coach Tom Heier.

Free batted .365 with seven doubles, 10 RBIs and 10 runs.

“Val played solid defense. She is an excellent athlete,” Heier said.

“Sarah is a sure-handed center fielder. If she can get to the ball, the ball is caught.”


VAL FREE VAL FREE Scheiber hit .278 and hit three triples and two doubles to go with nine runs. She was honorable mention as a junior.

Sippel hit an impressive .478 with 11 RBIs, 15 runs, five doubles and three triples.

“Miranda was a four-year starter at first base. She was a strong hitter and had a great glove at first,” noted Feldmann.

Schubert, who also competed in track this past spring, had an outstanding .488 average with 15 RBIs, 21 runs, five doubles, three triples and a home run.

“Sonia batted in the leadoff spot and was a very tough out. I look for great things from her the next three years,” said Feldmann.

Ausloos hit .414 with 18 RBIs and 16 runs. She also hit a homer.

Feldmann hit .357 with nine RBIs, 15 runs and one homer.

Peterson batted .360 with 12 RBIs and two doubles. She had a 6-5 pitching mark and 10 complete games. Peterson was an honorablemention infielder last season.

The other first-team repeaters are junior infielder Mandi Race and senior utility player Kasie Feind of Cedar Grove-Belgium. Feind is on the first team for the fourth consecutive year.

Feind and Oostburg senior outfielder Kimberly Wilterdink were the only unanimous picks on the first unit.
