Zimmer Westview purchases Ballhorn

Mark Zimmer, the owner of Zimmer Westview Funeral Home in Howards Grove is pleased to announce that he has entered into a definitive agreement with Service Corporation International (“SCI”) and has acquired Ballhorn Chapel Funeral Home. “I am proud to be the owner of this long time Sheboygan funeral home. The Ballhorn Chapels & Crematory has been the most respected funeral home in the area and I am so very happy to complete this transaction and return it to local ownership,” Mark Zimmer said.

The Ballhorn Chapel has been a fixture to serve thousands of families throughout Sheboygan County for more than 100 years. “The Ballhorn Chapels & Crematory is one of the longest continuously serving facilities throughout North America. I am fortunate to be the steward of the reputation,” Mark stated. “I have worked for more than six months to be able to bring this together. I have been aided by my longtime friend and advisor David Gass, of the Sheboygan law firm of Rohde Dales,” he said. “This opportunity is even more exciting for us as we have observed the professional work of the Ballhorn staff and their management for three decades”, said Debbie Zimmer, Mark’s wife and co-owner. “I know that we will bring a new look to the facility and a respect for the century long history of this great business”, she added.

Mark has been the owner of Zimmer Funeral Home and the former Gerend Habermann funeral home with locations in Howards Grove as well as Sheboygan for the last three decades. He built the new Westview facility in the Howards Grove area in 2003, and merged the Sheboygan based funeral home with Westview in 2010. “Funeral service is changing and therefore funeral facilities need to change with the times as well. Our design at Westview did just that,” Mark explained. “The Ballhorn Chapel is a very large and historic facility anchoring downtown Sheboygan and we plan on working to restore the historical appearance of this downtown landmark, and modernize the amenities of the building to increase the comfort of families we serve there,” he added.
