The Flames dropped to 9-5 in the Northern Division of the Land O’ Lakes Baseball League and 15-8 overall. The Saints improved to 7-5 in the division.

Plymouth committed three errors in the ninth, including two which resulted in a pair of runs being scored. The Saints collected three hits in the frame.

The Flames, who trailed 4-0 after 5½, tallied a run in the eighth to tie the game, 4-4. Jake Klemme hit a leadoff single and later came home on Paul Gloede’s sacrifice fly.

Klemme led Plymouth in hits with three and runs, two. Gloede had a team-high three RBIs.

Flame player-manager Rick Meyer was happy with the way his team battled back after trailing 4-0. Plymouth scored three runs in the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-3. The key hit was Gloede’s two-run double.

Mike Sherrick keyed the Saints’ attack with three hits. Sherrick and Ryan Modder had a team-high two RBIs each. Modder belted a tworun homer in the fourth.

Casey Johnson posted a complete game victory. Johnson allowed four earned runs on nine hits with nine strikeouts and only one walk.

Matt Rhude took the loss and went the distance. Three of the runs off Rhude were unearned. He gave up 12 hits, walked five and fanned eight.

“The three errors in the ninth hurt us. We missed some [scoring] opportunities and that hurt us,” said Meyer.

“I think we would’ve won if we shut them down in the ninth.”

The Flames made five errors in the contest.
