EUGENE F. “GENE” LENGLING

Eugene F. “Gene” Lengling, age 80, of Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Friday morning, Aug. 1, 2014 at home.

Gene was born Nov. 16, 1933 in Slinger, Wis., a son of the late Rev. A.C. and Clara Pautz Lengling. He attended Saron Ev. Lutheran Grade School in Milwaukee and graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1953.

On May 14, 1955, he married Diane Thorgersen in Milwaukee, Wis. The couple resided in Milwaukee after their marriage before moving to Plymouth in 1960.

Gene was employed at Soden Supermarket and Milwaukee Cheese Co. in Milwaukee for several years and retired from the National Biscuit Co. (which later became Nabisco) on May 28, 1993, after 38 years of service.

Gene was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, and was videographer for the church for many years making videos of the services for the shutins of the church.

He was also a member of the Plymouth Barbershoppers for many years.

Gene enjoyed golfing, boating, yard work and spending time with his many pets.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Diane of Plymouth; three sons: Mark (Linda) Lengling of Cedarburg, Dale Lengling of Plymouth and Bruce Lengling of Plymouth; six grandchildren: Amber, Melissa, Joseph, Peter, Mykael and David; one great-grandson, Caleb and one sisterin law, Shirley Toomey of Milwaukee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Cory Geiger; four brothers: Gordon, Raymond, Erwin and Arthur and three sisters: his twin infant sister, Lillian and Clara.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. The Rev. Nathan Meador and the Rev. Thomas Burton will co-officiate. Private family burial will be in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Gene’s name.
