July Yard of the Month

The GFWC Women’s Club of Plymouth has chosen Kathleen and Max Prettie for the Yard of the Month award for July 2014. Kathleen and Max have always loved outdoor living. They enjoy taking frequent motorcycle rides, kayaking and fishing trips. Together they also spend countless hours building and enjoying their park-like backyard oasis. They call their almost 15 years of landscaping project a work in progress. To all their admiring neighbors and passers by, it’s breathtakingly beautiful and near perfection all year around. With help from sons Mitch and Justin Adams, Kathleen and Max started their grand scale garden by planting their first 14 trees in 1998. Most of those earlier trees are still standing, providing shelter and food for a wide range of birds. Over the decade, the garden has tripled in size and it’s beauty has multiplied. Two summers ago, they hosted their older son’s wedding rehearsal dinner amid their bountiful flowers and plants. It was a fond memory for all the guests. Kathleen and Max are looking forward to being able to enjoy more of the tranquility of their landscaping effort after they retire. Meanwhile, they have more visions and plans for their enchanting garden. Take a ride or walk by 416 S. Bruns where the Pretties live and you will be pleasantly rewarded with the beauty of their front and backyard gardens. The Pretties were awarded a $25 Moraine Gardens gift certificate.
