Local musicians in Kids troupe

The Kids From Wisconsin - the state’s Musical Ambassadors of Goodwill - are ready for their 46th show season, and there’s a little “hometown flavor” in it as Kevin Dolfin, of Hingham and Traverse Such of Plymouth are part of the talented troupe. Dolfin is a trumpet player and Such is the guitarist as part of the 13 piece band along with the 20 singers/ dancers make up the KIDS troupe.

Dolfin and Such will have their “hometown show” at the Weill Center for the Performing Arts, th Sheboygan, on August 19 starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at www.weillcenter.com or by phone at 920-208-3243.

Kevin Dolfin is a junior at UW-Platteville majoring in Instrumental Music Education. At UWPlatteville he is a member of the UW-Platteville Marching Pioneers and trumpet section leader. In addition, he is plays in Jazz I and a Wind Ensemble. Kevin graduated from Oostburgh High School in 2012 where he was active in their band program and earned numerous honors including High School Conference Honors Band; UWMilwaukee Honors Band; State Solo/Ensemble; Lyle and Ruth Olsen Music Scholarship; ensembles. Kevin also enjoys composing sacred instrumental and vocal music for the Hingham Reform Church and other local churches. Kevin is the son of Laura and Todd Dolfin.

Traverse Such is senior at Plymouth High School. He discovered his passion for guitar in eighth grade watching YouTube videos and downloading guitar lessons. Traverse attended the Shell Lake Performing Arts Center Guitar Camp sponsored by McNally Smith College of Music and the Berklee College of Music Guitar Camp studying rock guitar in the summers of 2012 and 2013 respectively. During the past year he has been the guitarist (lead and bass) for the Plymouth High School Swing Choir “Momentum”. He also performed with the band Lax Chapel at the 2014 Green Bay Regional Launchpad Band Competition. Traverse enjoys playing acoustic guitar for weddings and entertaining dinner guests at his family’s restaurant in Adell. Traverse’s future goals are to attend Berklee College of Music in guitar performance and to become a session guitarist. Traverse is the son of David Such.

Executive Director Tina Weiss said, “Having a Hometown Kid in the Kids From Wisconsin is a great boost to any community. It showcases our hometown KIDS to the rest of the state as the troupe performs in about 60 different venues throughout the summer. The show program, and promotions on social media, also features the ‘hometown kid’ and the name of their community, which is something their community can be proud of!”
