Hazel Roesselet, age 92, of Plymouth, formerly of Pewaukee, went home to be with her Lord on Friday morning, Aug. 15, 2014, at Rocky Knoll Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Milwaukee to Kurt and Edna (Luebke) Kaiser and was a graduate of Rufus King High School, Class of 1939.

Hazel was employed at Northwestern Mutual Insurance Co.

On May 10, 1944, Hazel saved a little girl from drowning in the Milwaukee River and was subsequently awarded the Carnegie Hero Medal.

On Sept. 17, 1949, Hazel and Harold Roesselet were united in marriage. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 2008.

Hazel was a former member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartland, Wis., and currently a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.

She is survived by her nephew, Werner (Kathleen) Roesselet of Plymouth, Wis.; her niece, Barbara (Roy) Heinrich of Plymouth, Minn.; cousins, Barbara (Larry) Kasper of Thiensville, Wis., and Ruth (Richard) Wrubbel of Hartford, Wis.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2132 N. 27th St., Sheboygan, WI 53081. The Rev. Timothy Kuske, pastor, will officiate.

A time of visitation and support will be held at 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
