Jane Schmitt left this world to be with Jesus on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014.

She was born Dec. 19, 1930 in Munhall, Pa.

Early in her life she lived in Los Angeles, Calif. Later she moved to Milwaukee, Wis., and then Plymouth, Wis., where she lived most of her life.

Before marrying, she worked as an IT manager at a small business where she met her husband, Bob. In 2002 she and her husband moved to Mount Vernon, Wash., to be close to their son, daughter-in-law and grandsons.

In 1996, she contracted liver cancer and was given six months to live. After receiving this diagnosis, she refused treatment and decided to instead vacation with her husband in New Mexico, a place she always wanted to see. A beacon of hope to anyone suffering with cancer and wonderment to her doctors and family. However, she suffered a stroke in 2010 that she never recovered from.

She enjoyed entertaining at her home where she served plenty of food, drink and fun. She volunteered for many activities at her church and Catholic school including the church office where she established the database for parish records. She also served on the Church Council.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Cheryl, and three loving grandsons, Ian, Owen and Kellan. Also many other relatives and friends will miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marie Doran.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Salvation Army.

Private services for the family will be held.

Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, Wash. (360-424-1154), is serving the family.
