Gerald “Jerry” Roethel, 66, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family. Through his battle, he never lost his legendary sense of humor.

He was born March 24, 1948, in Sheboygan to Willard and Roma (Boeldt) Roethel. Jerry attended Sheboygan Falls High School.

On July 6, 1985, he married the former Sonja Hoffmann.

Jerry worked a variety of jobs including moving houses and managing a mobile home park. He most recently worked restoring and managing a collectable car museum.

Jerry enjoyed spending time with his “kids” Nick and Diane.

Jerry is survived by his son and dear daughter-in-law, Nick and Diane Roethel of Oakland, Calif.; his mother, Roma Roethel; sisters, Nancy Christian and Betty (George) Lorenz; nephews, David (Trina) and Keith and nieces, Sheryl (Gregg), Dawn (Brad) and Brenda.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Sonja; father, Willard; brother-in-law, Ordell (Ozzie) and “buddy,” Skeeter.

A memorial service was held for Jerry on Friday evening, Aug. 29, at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (State 42 and JJ). The Rev. Thomas Schroeder officiated. Private inurnment took place at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
