Plymouth welcomes new associate principal, teachers

The Plymouth School District has added new staff for the 2014- 15 school years. They include:

Andy Novak Title: Associate principal at Plymouth High School

Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from UW-Green Bay; master’s in special education from UWOshkosh; master’s in educational administration from Marian University.

Previous experience: Five years in behavior management/supervisor family services at NEW Residential Treatment Center; nine years as special education teacher/department chairperson at Green Bay Southwest High School

Other interests: My wife and I, along with our two daughters, enjoy being outdoors and visiting family.

Chris Helmer

Title: Educational specialist at Fairview Middle School

Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in exceptional education - learning disabilities from UW-Milwaukee; master’s degree in administrative leadership - principal from UW-Milwaukee

Previous experience: Two years elementary special education in Milwaukee Public Schools; 14 years elementary special education in Howard-Suamico School District; 1 year curriculum department as district RtI coordinator in Howard-Suamico School District

Other interests: Packer and Badger football, cycling, science fiction shows

Meredith Herrera

Title: Math teacher at Plymouth High School

Educational background: B.B.A. in finance and marketing from UW-Milwaukee; master’s of science in curriculum and instruction from UW-Milwaukee

Previous experience: Two years as a licensed banker at Associated Bank, two years as a mathematics teacher at Oostburg High School

Other interests: I love being with family and friends, cooking, traveling, dancing, gardening, and woodworking!

Brittany Hoffmann

Title: Educational specialist at Riverview Middle School

Educational background: Bachelor’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University in the area of teaching special education and early childhood education.

Previous experience: She has held three long-term substitute positions in the West Bend School District and has been a long-term substitute at Riverview since March.

Matthew Mueller

Title: School counselor at Riverview Middle School

Educational background: Associate of arts and science degree from UW-Manitowoc; bachelor’s degree in communications from UW-Milwaukee; master’s degree in counseling from Lakeland College

Previous experience: Guidance counselor for the Cochrane- Fountain City School District for three years

Other interests: Packers, Brewers, performing and listening to live music, golfing, spending time with my wife Ashley and our families.

Kendra Ramaeker

Title: Educational specialist at Riverview Middle School

Educational background: Bachelor’s degree at UW-Stevens Point, certified to teach German and English as a Second Language. While working with many struggling learners, I decided to pursue my master’s degree in reading and learning disabilities from Cardinal Stritch University and eventually acquired the reading specialist licensure.

Previous experience: Taught for 16 years in the Sheboygan School District as an elementary and middle school ELL teacher. I enjoy working with students who struggle academically and finding ways to help all students achieve success.

Other interests: In my free time, I enjoy being with my family out in nature - hiking, kayaking, camping, gardening, or just spending time with our potbellied pigs and chickens. My interests also lie in learning languages, exploring new cultures and traveling to new places. However, on those cold winter days, you will find me reading all of the newest adolescent novels, sewing my newest creations and savoring time with my incredible son and husband.

Billie Rau

Title: Instructional math coach

Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a math minor from UWGreen Bay; master’s in curriculum and instruction (with a math focus) from UW-Milwaukee

Previous experience: Taught at Urban Middle School in Sheboygan for 12.5 years

Other interests: Spending time with my two boys, playing volleyball and softball, music, reading

Kelly Schroeder

Title: Grade 7 and 8 social studies teacher at Riverview Middle School

Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in elementary education 1-8 from UW-Oshkosh

Previous experience: This is my ninth year teaching and fifth year with the Plymouth School District. I have also taught in Ripon, Oshkosh, and Arizona.

Other interests: Spending time with family and friends, being outside, reading, writing, and doing any new adventurous thing.

Stephanie Wasmer

Title: Elementary music teacher

Educational background: Recently graduated from Lakeland College with a general music edu- cation, choral music education and vocal performance degree

Previous experience: This is my first year teaching. I student taught at Sheboygan Falls and also teach private voice and piano lessons.

Other interests: I love to sing with others and play piano. I live, breathe and love music!
