The contest was the Great 8 Conference South Division opener for both teams. Elkhart raised its overall record to 3-0 while Maranatha dropped to 0-3.

Shaw, a sophomore tailback, had three TDs on runs of 3, 12 and 15 yards. Rebedew, a senior, had a 16-yard TD burst at running back and a 98-yard interception return for a score from his linebacker spot. The interception was huge as it prevented Maranatha from possibly tying the game and pushed Elkhart’s lead to 20-6.

Jordan Kissinger and Shaw made one fumble recovery apiece, with Kissinger’s setting up a TD.

“It was an all-around good game. It was nice to see the younger guys play a lot and they did a good job,” said Resorter head coach Barry Feldmann.

Feldmann thought Trent Rebedew and brother, Trevor, and Shaw played well.

“Shaw ran the ball hard and he was our leader in this game [on offense and defense],” said Feldmann.
