Grimm’s hat trick propels Tigers to win

Junior forward Derrick Grimm kicked three goals to spark the Howards Grove boys soccer team to a 7-3 rout over host Kohler Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers improved to 3-1 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (5-2-1 overall). In CLC play Tuesday afternoon, visiting Howards edged Random Lake, 4-3.

Kohler fell to 1-2 in the league (1-4 overall).

In the Kohler match, Dakota Rabe scored two goals and Ben Dehne and Peter Grimm added one each for the Tigers. Derrick Grimm and Mason Stauss had one assist apiece. The Tigers mounted a 5-1 halftime lead.

“We had a great practice on Wednesday and it carried over to our game today. I am really proud of how we communicated, won the 50/50 balls and possessed,” said Tiger head coach Todd Fischer.

HGHS led 13-7 in shots on goal. Tiger goalkeeper Hunter Voss made four saves.

Charlie Kelly scored two goals for the Blue Bombers and Connor Sbrocco kicked one.

RANDOM LAKE MATCH

Rabe, a senior midfielder/forward, had a hat trick to ignite the Tigers’ attack versus the Rams. Grimm the other goal for Howards which led 4-2 at halftime. Grimm and Rabe had one assist each.

Logan Martin keyed the Rams’ offense with two goals and Zach Ross added one.

HGHS had a 14-9 edge in shots on goal. Voss had four saves and Ram goalie Evan DeBrough, 10.

The Rams dropped to 1-3 in the CLC (2-5 overall).
