Gallenberger powers Tigers to CLC win

CEDAR GROVE – Devin Gallenberger, a junior midfielder, scored three goals to ignite the Howards Grove Tigers’ 8-2 rout over Cedar Grove-Belgium in boys soccer play here Tuesday night.

The Tigers, who won their third straight match, improved to 4-1 in the Central Lakeshore Conference (6-2-1 overall). HGHS built a 6-0 halftime lead.

Junior forward Derrick Grimm contributed two goals for HGHS and became the Tigers’ career scoring leader with an impressive 68. The old mark was 67, set by Nathan Mutsch who graduated in 2012.

Scoring one goal each for the Tigers were Dakota Rabe, Ben Dehne and Jeremy Berglund. Grimm and Rabe led in assists with two each and Dehne and Carson Teske had one apiece.

The Tigers led 21-9 in shots on goal. HGHS goalie Hunter Voss made seven saves.

“We were able to pass and posses the ball well tonight – taking advantage of many opportunities,” said Tiger head coach Todd Fischer.
