“We played very well for [the first] two games but ran out of gas against a great team. Howards does a great job of finding any opening and finding a missed coverage or small mistakes,” said Resorter head coach Jim Brown.

“I loved our effort tonight. Our girls fought like crazy. Howards just played better.”

The match was the Central Lakeshore Conference opener for the Tigers (10-2 overall) who are ranked No. 2 in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association D-3 poll. Elkhart slipped to 1-1 in CLC action.

“It was nice to get a conference win on the road. Elkhart Lake is improved,” said Tiger head coach Brett Damrow.

“The biggest thing for them is they aren’t young now. They fought and tested us. We took advantage of some of their gaps [on defense].

“Samantha Black [senior] did a nice job and had a couple of kills in key situations,” said Damrow.

Ali Schueler spearheaded the Tigers’ hitting with 14 kills, followed by Autumn Risch with six and Black, five. Risch led in assists with 23.

Schueler and Brittany Schaller paced HGHS in digs with 15 each.

Rachael Flora paced the Resorters in kills with four and Emma Feldmann had three. Feldmann had a team-high two blocks.

Flora led Elkhart in digs with 25 and Paige Nelson contributed 20. Emily Holzmann was first in assists with five.
