Chapter & verse

To the Editor,

I recently had a chance to attend a candidate forum at UW Sheboygan dealing with the issues of tobacco, alcohol, and mental health.

I was not surprised that most candidates thought that these were areas of concern but I was surprised on the lack of understanding the same candidates had on the topics.

I was particularly concerned about 9th District State Senate Candidate, Devin LeMahieu’s, lack of understanding that Governor’s Walker’s refusal to accept federal dollars to expand BadgerCare was in one part the reason for millions in cuts to diversion programs meant to help people dealing with these issues.

LeMahieu also shocked me when he said that before running for the Sheboygan County Board he had no idea what county government did.

We need people who know what they are doing and that are well versed in the issues in Madison. I encourage all people to look into this further and choose a candidate that has the knowledge to best represent their constituents.

Sincerely,
Sonia Larson
Waldo
