Schultz, Conrad propel Huskies to EWC rout

NEW HOLSTEIN – Tyler Schultz and Jacob Conrad kicked two goals each to power the New Holstein/Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Huskies to a 5-0 drubbing of visiting Kewaskum Tuesday night.

The Huskies ran their firstplace Eastern Wisconsin Conference boys soccer record to 6-0 (8- 2-1 overall).

Schultz, a sophomore midfielder/ forward from Elkhart, also had an assist. Jacob Starnitcky, a sophomore midfielder from Elkhart, scored the other goal and had an assist.

NH/EL-G exploded for all of its goals in the second half. Josue Valenzuela contributed the team’s other assist.

The Huskies held an impressive 24-1 advantage in shots on goal. NH/EL-G goalie Jordan Bahr made one save.

“We had possession of the ball on our offensive end for 90 percent of the first half but Kewaskum defended very hard and always kept at least six back [on defense],” said Husky head coach Nate Laabs. “This made it very difficult to penetrate and get to the goal.

“We consistently moved the ball and eventually we were able to wear them out and break them down. Tyler Schultz played a great game, creating a lot of chances for our team that eventually broke them down.”
