Leading the charge for the Panthers was junior Sophie Bolich who finished runner-up in 19 minutes, 51.68 seconds on the 3.1-mile course. The champion was Lauren Farina of Appleton North with an impressive 18:21.37.

Appleton North cruised to the title with an outstanding 23 points – placing three runners in the top four overall. Green Bay East was second with 78, followed by PHS at 109.

PHS placed 13th in a tough boys meet with 325 points. The Panthers were paced by Ian McConnaha who took 30th in 17:37.93 over 3.1 miles. The winner was Daniel Laluzerne of Green Bay Preble in 15:54.63.

Stevens Points won the meet with 35 points, easily outscoring runner-up Preble (89).

“It was a great day to run in a nice, competitive meet, and our runners performed well,” said Panther head coach Jay Grosshuesch.

Our boys continue to progress. We got solid performances from Ian Alan [Schaefer] and Paul [Francis] and our next two of Gabe [Olsen] and Jordan [Marshall] are coming along.

“Our girls had a real strong performance. Sophie really looked smooth and strong to separate from a pack to finish second,” said Grosshuesch.

“Brooke [Koehn] and Abby [Payne] are really running well and responding to the tough competition well. Julia [Novotny], in her first varsity running of the year, did well.

“Karly [Knaus], Olivia [Jankowski] and Maria [Ryan] continue to provide us with great depth and good races,” said the coach.
