Waupun came into the match ranked No. 3 in the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association Division 2 poll. The Warriors, the defending Eastern Wisconsin Conference champions, raised their EWC-leading record to 8-0 (26-10 overall).

The Panthers slipped to 4-4 in the EWC.

Despite the loss, PHS head coach Peggy Huhn was very pleased with her team’s performance.

“An absolute amazing match for us. It is the best I have seen our girls play so far,” said Huhn.

“Our tempo was much faster, and we attacked them with our serve and our third-ball attack.

“The girls were communicating well and kept up our offense. A complete team effort with play by our entire roster,” said Huhn.

Sophomore outside hitter Sophie Albert keyed the Panthers’ attack with 13 kills, followed by Kathryn Aukerman with eight. Mary Albert and Megan Goeser had a team-high two solo blocks each.

Mary Albert led in assists with 23. Cara Bardon and Elise Suttner paced the team in ace serves with two apiece. Mary Albert and Suttner were the top servers with 12-for-12 each.

Bardon led the Panthers in digs with seven. Sophie Albert was first in serve reception with 11-for-12.

“Kathryn Aukerman went five kills for six attempts in the fourth game after a slight ankle sprain in the third game,” Huhn noted.

“Emma Grapentine was very aggressive on her attack.”

Clayborn Bronkhorst sparked the Warriors’ hitting with 16 kills. Kyra Verheyen had a teambest 47 assists. Blake Buchholz led in digs with 21.
