How to get vote-ready in Plymouth, Falls, Sheboygan

Making sure you have all possible information available to be registered so you can vote is important.

In the last few weeks, this column has discussed what you need to do to register, if you have not already done so, discussed town and village voting locations and how to contact the clerks of those units of government to answer your voting questions.

In providing this information, hopefully, it will remind you of the importance of voting in this fall’s general election which will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4th.

The elections will include those for Governor, Lt. Governor, Atty. General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Congress, State Senate and State Assembly.

This week’s column will cover basic voting information for the three major city government units located in Sheboygan County - Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls and Plymouth. .

- City of Sheboygan: City Hall, 828 Center Avenue. Business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. City Hall phone: (920) 459-3361. City Clerk: Susan Richards. It should be noted that the City of Sheboygan has a number of voting locations throughout the city (if you are not sure which is yours, please call the clerk’s office).

If you are not registered to vote, you are highly encouraged to do it prior to the election (although you can register on election day); you will need to show proof of residency for the last 28 days - such as a billing, photo I.D. drivers license, etc.

Registration application forms can be obtained on line. If you want to absentee vote in person (except Saturday & Sunday), ballots will be available at city hall - starting on Monday, Oct. 20 to Friday, Oct. 31, during the week and during normal office hours.

All election questions you have should be directed to the City Clerk’s office.

- City of Sheboygan Falls: City Hall is under construction but Joel Tauschek, Clerk/Treasurer is available to serve anyone wishing to register and/or needing voting information.

His telephone number is: (920) 467-7900, Ex. 3. Tauschek’s office is located directly across from the YMCA & just north of the library at 308/310 Buffalo Street.

Business hour are Monday, 8:00 a.m. to Friday, 5:00 p.m. Voting will take place at the YMCA, 305 Buffalo Street on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Everything is located nearby to make things as convenient as possible.

If you want to absentee vote in person, ballots will be available at the Clerk/Treasurer’s office from Monday, Oct. 20 to Friday, Oct. 31 (except Saturday & Sunday), during the working hours as listed above.

For requesting absentee ballots (GAB-121) or voter registration forms (GAB-131), you can go on line to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board. If you have any voting questions, the Sheboygan Falls Clerk/Treasurer is your go-to-person.

- City of Plymouth: City Hall (& voting location), 128 Smith Street. Business hours are Monday 7:30 a.m. to Friday, 4:00 p.m. City Hall phone: (920) 893-1271. City Clerk/Treasure: Patricia Huberty. If you live in the City of Plymouth, all voting questions should be directed to the Clerk/ Treasure’s office.

Voter registration and absentee ballot forms can be obtained on line at the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.

In Plymouth, if you want to vote an absentee ballot in person, you can do so from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 24, and Monday, Oct 27 to Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The last two days of in-person absentee voting, Oct. 30 and 31, will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Also, remember, you will need to show a voter I.D. or other acceptable identification on election day.

Your vote is not only important, it can be critical and you have every right to do so if you meet the basic requirements. If you need to register, please do it as early if possible. And, if you have a question, your town, village or city clerk want you to call.

Your vote could make the difference in a close election.
