Junior defender Max Knauf had the assist on the gamewinner. The No. 8-seeded Huskies,

15-5-2, move on to the finals Thursday, Oct. 16 at No. 1-seeded Appleton Xavier at 4 p.m. Xavier is ranked No. 5 in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association D-3 poll.

“It was a very well-played and exciting game,” said Husky head coach Nate Laabs.

“Due to ongoing injuries on defense, we chose to take a defensive approach and put Jacob Conrad, our leading scorer, back at defense. It worked well as we were able to keep them scoreless.

“It was very unselfish of Conrad, being a goal scorer, to fill the hole we had and play a lot of defense. The rest of the defense played very well and Jordan Bahr did a great job in goal preserving the shutout until we started to turn the momentum in the second half,” said Laabs.

“It was a good win against a very good team in a very tough bracket.”

Bahr, a sophomore at Elkhart, made five saves. Fox goalie Ethan Schneider had eight saves. NH/EL-G had nine shots on goal and the Foxes had five.

The ninth-seeded Foxes finished the season 11-10-2.
