Kare-4-Kids

To the Editor:

Thank you Sheboygan County community for your support of the 7th annual “Friends of the Poor Walk” sponsored by the Sheboygan County St. Vincent de Paul Society and held Saturday, October 4, 2014.

For nearly two centuries, the poor and needy of the world have found a friend in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul; and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has long been a community resource to Sheboygan County by providing assistance with food, housing, utilities, clothing and prayer.

Our stores provide food, clothing, furniture and household item assistance for our community regardless of religious or non-religious affiliation.

The profits from our stores assist us in our aid to the needy and the ill.

The “Friends of the Poor Walk” has been a fun way for people to continue to support the society, to get others to join in the spirit of giving, and to show the poor in our community that we really do care about them.

This year, the focus of our walk was Kare-4-Kids as we strive to be sure all area children have a good bed, warm clothing and the necessities for a great start in life.

We wish to thank our many sponsors especially the generosity of Reinhold Novak Funeral Home, Blattners Piggly Wiggly, Bullard Children’s Dentistry, Catholic Financial Life, Sheboygan Chiropractic, Howards Grove Chiropractic, Edward Jones/Greg Monson, American Family Insurance/ Daniel Abts, Eigenberger Barber Shop, Electronic Design, Walmart, Kohl’s, Kisiolek Eye Center, Falls Dental, Falls Firehouse Pizza, The Fringe, Melowski & Associates, LLC, Pit Stop Pizza, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary of Sheboygan, The American Club, Fischer’s Fleet Service, Inc, , and over 130 community members of all ages that walked to raise over $9,500.

This money raised will be used to be sure that every child in Sheboygan County has a bed to sleep in, and for other programs specially designed for kids in Sheboygan Falls and the Plymouth area.

You, the people of Sheboygan County, have made a difference in the lives of kids in the area, and for that we are truly grateful.
